Story:

Left of Joseph Statue

After Joseph learned that his betrothed, Mary, was expecting a child, an angel appeared to him in a dream, revealing the child's true origin – conceived by the Holy Spirit – and instructed him to take Mary as his wife and to name the child Jesus, for he would save his people from their sins. Joseph, a man of unwavering faith, awoke and did as the angel commanded. He welcomed Mary into his home and embraced his role as the earthly father and guardian of Jesus. He provided for the Holy Family through his diligent work as a carpenter. When King Herod sought to kill the newborn Jesus, Joseph, guided by another angelic dream, fled with Mary and Jesus to Egypt, ensuring the safety of the child entrusted to his care. Though his words are not recorded in Scripture, Joseph's actions speak volumes. He lived a life of humble obedience, trust, and loving service to Jesus and Mary, becoming a model of faith and fatherhood. He taught Jesus his trade, instilled in him a love for hard work, and provided a safe and loving home. He reminds us of the dignity of human labor and the importance of a father's role in the family.
