About:
While praying in the fields during harvest, Angela experienced a life-changing vision. The heavens opened, and angels and young women, including her deceased sister, appeared to her, singing a melody surrounded by light. This vision revealed her calling: to gather a company of women who would dedicate their lives to serving God and educating young girls. Angela later returned to her hometown and dedicated herself to providing Christian education to girls, opening her own home to them, teaching them the Catholic faith, and fostering their spiritual growth.
She sought to establish a group of consecrated virgins devoted to teaching young girls. Though it wasn't formally recognized as a religious order during her lifetime, Angela's vision paved the way for the Company of St. Ursula, or the Ursulines.
Four years after her death, the Ursuline Rule, which Angela had composed, was approved by the Pope. The Ursulines eventually became the first female teaching order in the Catholic Church. Angela was later canonized in 1807.
