Story:

He was gifted with eloquence and a profound understanding of scripture, which captivated the hearts of those who listened. One day, in the town of Rimini, Anthony encountered a group of people who refused to listen to his words. They mocked him and turned away. Undeterred, Anthony walked to the river. Standing by the water, he called out, "You, fish of the river and sea, listen to the Word of God because the heretics do not wish to hear it!" To the astonishment of those who watched, a multitude of fish, large and small, gathered near the bank. They pushed their heads through the surface, seemingly straining to catch every word that Anthony spoke. Word of this wondrous event spread through Rimini like wildfire. The people, including the very heretics who had ignored him before, flocked to the riverbank to witness this miracle. St. Anthony became the patron of lost articles because of a precious book of Anthony’s handwritten notes and the novice who stole it. This book was vital for his teaching. When the novice fled with the book, Anthony prayed for its return, and the novice, experiencing what he believed was divine intervention, returned the book. This event led to St. Anthony being associated with finding lost items, a tradition that continues today.
