Feast Day:  May 16

Patron Saint of Bohemia

Dates: 1345 - 1393

St. John Nepomucene was known as a great preacher and became the Confessor of the Queen of Bohemia.  He refused to reveal the secrets told to him by the Queen in the confessional. The Queen’s jealous husband ordered him to prison and eventually had him drowned in the Vltava River. A spot of brightness was found in the river in the place where he drowned. He is considered the first martyr of the Seal of the Confessional.
